The life cycle of a guitar (or, musings on a tail)

Posted by Admin in Untagged

still thinking about word press.

but in the meantime- guess what? IT'S MY BIRTHDAY IN 2 DAYS!!!!!!

15, here I come! Wanted to watch an M15 movie on my birthday but now I can't think of a single decent thing to watch. Always the way.

Anyway.

This one's going to be quite short, its just to let you know (whoever ‘you' are, cause I still don't know who reads this thing) that I'm teaching myself guitar, using my mother's old guitar and one of those perky ‘teach yourself guitar' books you can find just about anywhere. This includes libraries, home bookshelves, and the local tip. I'm having trouble with the chord change from A maj to D maj (which is the first bleepin' change they teach you in the dang book!), and I'm beginning to wonder how long it will take me to literally throw away the book (well, return it to the library, that is) and actually teach myself with an old chord book that was, you guessed it, my mother's. Which was what I was doing before I discovered ‘teach yourself'. About the fact that she keeps a guitar for future generations- well, I have no problem with it.  I think its inspired. More people should do so, instead of selling theirs.

What I do have a problem with, is that it is a classical, not an acoustic, guitar. Meaning the neck is wider than an acoustic guitar, meaning that my fingers need to sttttrrreeeeettttccchhhhhh to reach the chords, meaning an F maj chord is pure torture. And let me tell you, long my fingers may be, but flexible in guitar is something they just ain't.

So I have a problem.

Wish I had a double-jointed extra-long fingers like a couple of tree-swinging primates I could mention (or this girl in my class- she has fingers one and a half times the length of her palm, plus a bit more. Creepy), but won't. Or what about the feet? I could just play really low to the ground. Heck, even the tail'd be good! They should make it a mandatory statement that all pro guitarists should grow a tail.

Although, you might run into problems in the clothing department. How to stuff a tail into a pair of jeans or a cocktail dress would be a little challenging.

So all the monkeys, orang-utans, lemurs, etcetera, whatever, are way ahead of us- they have tails and they don't need clothes.

(This is another argument against evolution. At some point, why haven't we evolved a tail? And why lose them in the first place? So dang handy.)

So, in conclusion, to tree-swingers the world over, I say to you:

Take advantage of your anatomy and learn to play with your feet.

That is my profound quote for the bleek. Thank you.

Lexicons, Social ruin and good old Murphy

Posted by Admin in Untagged

Well. Entry two and already I come up against lexiconal failings. Something I have been wondering. What is the name for that period of time between the posting of one entry of a blog and the posting of the next, when that time could end up being anywhen from a day to a couple of months?

Terrible neglect on the part of those people who make up words, isn't it? So I have decided to fill in the gaps. I have boldly combined ‘blog' and ‘week' (week because it is the most friendly-sounding word for a period of time - don't laugh, YOU try it), to produce the innovation henceforth known as a:

BLEEK

Let me put this in context for you.

SITE OF THE BLEEK: (sounds like a sci-fi title!)

http://garfieldminusgarfield.tumblr.com/

The creator of G-G, Trevors (yes, it's with an ‘s') has actually removed the cat from the comic (!), resulting in a strip about the ‘life' of an apparent skitz, bipolar, depressed, lonely, etc, etc, young man named Jon. As you do.

It's shamefully entertaining. Part of this is just due to the fact that its fun to guess what Garfield (who?) would be saying if he was there. The other factor is just that it's funny.

Jim Davis (creator of Garfield PLUS Garfield (i.e., the original strip) loves this site. And so do I. What other recommendation do you need?

I'm debating with myself whether or not to move this whole blog before there are too many entries to wordpress or not. I'll let you know which split personality wins out.

Moving along, my first (because I'm sure there will be others) life lesson for the bleek (how handy that word is!) is

NEVER SAY ANYTHING TO OTHER PEOPLE WITH INTENT TO SHOCK

Because:

a) they'll never forget it

b) they'll never let you forget that they haven't forgotten it

c) they will remind you at the most inconvenient moments

d) they will never believe you were lying

and worst of all,

e) they have this embarrassing compulsion to tell everyone with whom you share an acquaintance- i.e, pretty much everyone

Like, there's a guy I know, who always texts me to say, ‘whats up?', and I'll be like, ‘there's a bulldozer in the front yard' or, ‘our floor has disappeared' or some equally true remark (my dad's extending the house. Extending= pulling the house to bits and putting it back together to make a bigger structure, and covering the lot with corrugated iron. Not that I am complaining- I'm getting a nicer bedroom so its all good. Plus he builds for a living, so it looks great. It just gets a little... messy), and he won't believe me! Then I come out with something outrageous and that's the time he decides to believe me! Old Murphy's Law, and a darn nuisance. But that's what Murphy is all about, unfortunately.

As to what I said and whether it was true or not? That remains a dark, dark secret, best not excavated.

...On the bright side, that means nothing is ever your fault. Blame it on Murphy. He'll thank you for it.

The introduction to my life that you can skip

Posted by Admin in Untagged

If you've read my 'about me' section, you don't have to bother with this one, becasue it is the exact same version (thank goodness for cut and paste)

Hey, I'm stef (lower-case 's'), I'm from Australia, I play keyboard and I sing, and at one time I played violin. Then I stopped, cause it makes your arms pretty damn tired. Also, I grew out of my violin. If you haven't tried to play a violin when you have to smash your am against your side to reach the neck of the thing, the base digging into your neck, and your bow-arm half-dislocated in search of a couple of strings, then I don't advise you to start now! Ha ha. Although I would like to start it up again, but my parents have ruled that I shall only have one type of music lesson unless i would like to pay for it myself... which of course I don't. So I can't play guitar, either, which is annoying, as I have always wanted to learn.

My singing... I only have a two-octave range (E-flat to E-flat) , the middle being around the 'middle C' area, and whenever I am alone in the house I belt it out. The only reason the neighbours havent complained is that one is always working (seriously, I think we've only ever seen him about 15 times in almost as many years, but we know him, he's nice, and he lets me pat his cat. I've always wanted a cat, but we have a huge, beautiful, sooky dog who is terrified of them (explain THAT, Dr. Harry)), and the others routinely have large parties every Friday, so they're hardly in a position to complai. I'm just glad they don't know it's me making such a racket(even though I can sing and am in a church band, I frequently push my vocal cords to the limit, wherupon my voice cracks. With... interesting results).

Well, one thing you ought to know about me is that I have fingers of lengthy proportions, (which is reallly handy for skipping an octave on a keyboard) and legs to match. Despite this, I am really unfit; I cant even run a hundred metres without flagging.

Another thing I will mention that has nothing to do with music, but is still relevent because it's about me is that I am a Christian. I don't know all the answers to why the world is as it is, but I do still believe, and nothing will ever take away my love for God. The problem is, I am still human, and this tends to frustrate me intensely because I keep doing very stupid things and often have to talk myself out of situations, without lying. No wonder I want to become a writer. Despite these inconveniences, I still wouldn't trade my faith for anything.

Apart from music-related stuff (including listening to it) I also love gardening (weeding especially- I have been known to sit in the sun with an old shirt tied over my head and just weed the garden for 3 or 4 hours), and HOT HOT HOT curry, Winnie-the-Pooh (especially Eeyore), owls, reading (I am the biggest bookworm you will ever meet), and comics like Cathy, Garfield, Calvin and Hobbes, and Zits. I love the wind. Some people think it's really unsettling, but that's what I like about it.

OTHER RANDOM STUFF YOU DON'T HAVE TO READ:

I have really curly hair, not afro-type, but still curly enough to rival a slinky. I also have glasses, without which I look really weird. If that's proper grammar (and this sentence sure wasn't).

I don't feel the heat very easily, but I get cold really quickly.

As well as writing a book (hopefully), I also write and compose a heap of songs. I collect pigs as well, and I like to dance but I'm not very good at it.

Even though I'm Aussie to the core, I have this weird half-British accent thing, from watching too much British comedy. And then, just to be even stranger, I get a Kiwi accent when I'm upset.

Jet at the AFL Grand Final

Posted by chriskomo2007 in Untagged

Jet were so awsome at the Grand final.
They performed two songs:Are You Gonna Be My Girl and Roll Over DJ.

When Jet performed live at the Chapel, they claimed to have hated Roll Over DJ and it was such a Cleche but all the fans seemed to like the song, so that mite have explained there poor performance of Roll Over DJ.

But other then that, are you gonna be my girl was great, they have added some minor changes to the song since they first released and witch made it better.

Hello again!

I'll tell you more about this website. I started with this last year and this site is my business.

Why business?

Do you see ads around the site? Well, when somebody clicks it, I get money. This money supports web hosting and other things in my life. This money buys sheets which goes to upload so you can have it. This money is really important. Just keep surfing!

It's 4:44 am and I'm still awake! Strange, huh?

Last night I was on "Bela nedeja" - town party near my city. Nothing special... I mean boring! So how are you? Why don't you write anything?  I listen Era whole day. I just love them. Very good music project. Nice voices and nice music.

It's getting cold in my town. Why? Because winter is coming. Winter is my favorite season. Vivald's "Winter" also! Especially 2nd movement!  Ok... I'll sleep now. I'm tired!

Common guys! Register and write something!

Hy there! I'm just uploading new sheets - songs from Coldplay album X&Y.  Hope you'll play it a lot! More sheets are coming soon! Well... Last night I had very strange dream. Always the same... Me, alone in the big room with grand piano made of ice! Yeah, ice! And it was very hot in this room. I was burning! And I closed myself inside the piano. And I woke up... And started to prepare some sheets!

Hard time!

Hello there!

I just came from orchestra playing. Really hard day... Not! Well, I woke up 2:00pm (local time, +1). Well, I've done some new things inside this site. Then I went to the orchestra. To remind you, I play first viola in High School Orchestra. We are preparing for the concert for Christmas. After the class, few of us (Luka, Anamarija, Anamarija no.2, Lino and me) went to pub where we made some arrangements about winter holidays and ski trip. Here are some photos:DSC00100.JPG

This is Anamarija no.1

Hey... You are reading this... Why don't you write something?
